The principal responsibility of the SENIOR NETWORK ARCHITECT is to design networks and extensions to networks.
- Must take into consideration bandwidth and infrastructure requirements, as well as safety, and the ability of network to expand over time.
- Design and Create the data communication network. This may be Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) or intranets.
- Determine the most suitable hardware and software drivers for the drivers and install such hardware drivers – cables, routers, hubs, and wireless adapters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Position yourself as a trusted adviser to engineering stakeholders and partner with them and understand their requirements for private compute and cloud implementations
- Collaborate with the organization’s management to identify the network needs of the company
- Design and create data communication networks – LAN, WAN, or Intranets
- Determine the most suitable hardware and software drivers to be utilized
- Review network vendors and suppliers to ensure that quality materials are supplied
- Arrange for project transfer as well as teach employees how best to utilize network facilities
- Monitor and coordinate the work of other IT specialist working on the same project to ensure compliance to enterprise plan
- Design network plan and prototype and explain to the management why it is in the enterprise’s best interest to adopt such plan
- Assist the organization in deciding the best network plan to pursue, its long term benefit, profitability, and cost implications
- Ensure that any network connections do not interfere with data flow or make it vulnerable to attack
- Keep accurate record of operations so as to serve as point of reference in times of need
- Communicate with enterprise architect and management on the progress of projects
- Position yourself as a trusted adviser to engineering stakeholders and partner with them and understand their requirements for cloud implementations
- Understand technical challenges and architecture pain points, the current mix of legacy, cloud-enabled and cloud-native systems
- Develop a playbook of design standards, patterns and reference implementations to support corporate on-prem, multi-cloud, global WAN & SDWAN strategy
- Partner up with engineering teams to ensure network readiness for migration of services from existing cloud provider to Azure and across on-prem environments
- Work closely with our Cloud Operations, Site Reliability and Systems Engineering teams helping them take on complex operational and architectural issues
- Partner with engineering teams and help achieve corporate 99.99% service availability goals
- Work with tools, infrastructure and automation engineers in delivering development tools and automation to increase engineering velocity
- Help deliver engineering teams optimized, performance, resilient and secure services
- Perform technology evaluations and POCs to provide recommendations by synthesizing conclusions and comparison of various technology solutions
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Possess analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of various types of computer operating, security and wireless systems
- Strong time management and critical thinking skills are also necessary
- Capable of assessing organizations network needs, designing data network systems, applying troubleshooting skills to resolve network issues, repairing and maintaining networks, and implementing new network and storage systems
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years' of related experience
- Proven technical experience maintaining and delivering online services in a 24x7 environment
- Experience with configuration and deployment of Juniper switches, routers, and firewalls
- Extensive knowledge with configuring and managing exterior and interior routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF, IS-IS) and unicast and multicast traffic
- Experience with configuration and operation of network and system monitoring software
- Must have superior network routing protocol experience: BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, HSRP/VRRP, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SIP, Wireless 802.3 and 802.11, RFC, and ISO standards
- Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering & DevOps concepts
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT or related field
