Responsibilities: Client-Facing Planning • Lead clients through customized estate and tax planning strategies, including advanced trusts, gifting strategies, and wealth transfer techniques. • Prepare and review a wide range of estate planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and tax-focused instruments. • Translate complex tax and legal concepts into clear, client-friendly guidance. Legal Oversight and Case Management • Oversee the legal quality and forward momentum of estate planning matters—ensuring technical accuracy, policy alignment, and timely progression. • Provide supervision and mentorship to associate attorneys and paralegals when appropriate. • Ensure all planning solutions are compliant with current federal and state tax laws, and proactively identify updates needed to client plans. Collaboration & Research • Work closely with the firm’s founders and legal team to maintain workflow efficiency and case excellence. • Conduct or oversee legal research in areas such as estate tax, gift tax, and asset preservation. • Contribute to the internal development of best practices and planning templates. Qualifications: What You Bring Credentials • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. • Active license to practice in Washington (required); Oregon licensure is a bonus. Skills & Strengths • Deep understanding of estate tax planning, and LLCs. • Excellent drafting, research, and communication skills. • High emotional intelligence, especially when supporting aging or grieving clients. • Tech-savvy and comfortable working in a modern, paper-lite environment. • Thoughtful, respectful, and grounded—you show up prepared, listen deeply, and act with integrity.
