Jackson Hewitt Tax Services is one of the nation’s most trusted names in tax preparation – and we’re looking for a skilled, motivated tax professional to lead our High Desert team across five Walmart locations this upcoming tax season.
As both a Tax Preparer and a Team Leader, you’ll not only prepare individual tax returns, but also oversee the daily operations of five Jackson Hewitt kiosks inside Walmart stores, support your team, and ensure every client gets the outstanding service we’re known for.
As a Seasonal Tax Preparer in Walmart, you will:
Proactively engage with Walmart customers and employees – this is a retail sales position
Assist clients via one-on-one tax interviews and answer questions from walk-ins
Complete tax preparation training, and demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn
Utilize basic computer skills
Be supported by exceptional leadership and knowledgeable tax preparers, ensuring you're never alone

As the Walmart Team Leader, you will:
Lead team training – regularly train and coach teammates on effective techniques for face-to-face client marketing and overcoming objections.
Implement marketing strategies and motivate your team to increase completed return counts
Coordinate scheduling and oversee day-to-day operations
Foster a positive team culture focused on client satisfaction and accuracy
Provide teammates with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes
Ensure compliance with IRS guidelines, Jackson Hewitt policies, and Walmart protocols at all locations
Monitor return counts, holds, voids, and rejects at all Walmart locations. Report performance metrics weekly and collaborate with the District Manager and CEO on business goals
This position promotes the Jackson Hewitt brand through the delivery of superior customer service.

3+ years of experience preparing individual tax returns
Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a retail or tax prep environment and/or sales management preferred
Active PTIN required; EA or CPA a plus
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to travel between High Desert Walmart locations (reliable transportation, valid drivers license & insurance)
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends throughout the tax season
