    Your Role as an Experienced Assistant Teacher

    As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll work closely with Lead Teachers to deliver a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom environment for infants and/or toddlers. You’ll help implement play-based learning activities, manage classroom routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time

    Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests

    Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands-on activities

    Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations

    Encourage independence, self-help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies

    Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team

    Provide age-appropriate support for infants or toddlers depending on assigned classroom

    Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment

    Qualifications

    Previous experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education

    Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP)

    Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children

    Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

    Ability to multitask, follow classroom structure, and adapt to children’s needs

    High school diploma or GED required

    Family Communication & School Collaboration

    Maintain open communication with families through daily updates, progress reports, and scheduled conferences

    Support and attend family engagement events, parent education sessions, and school celebrations

    Collaborate with school administrators and fellow teachers to ensure alignment with school goals and state licensing standards

    Qualifications

    Minimum 6 months of classroom experience in a licensed preschool or early childhood center

    Proven ability to lead classroom activities and routines with confidence and consistency

    Strong knowledge of child development, learning domains, and early intervention best practices

    Effective communication skills with children, families, and co-workers

    A love for young children and a commitment to their growth and well-being

    Preferred Experience

    Familiarity with curriculum models such as Reggio Emilia or Montessori is preferred, as our proprietary curriculum incorporates elements from both approaches.

    Knowledge of state child care licensing regulations and quality standards

    Background in inclusive education, sensory integration, or differentiated instruction is a plus
