About the Role:

Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital is looking for a compassionate, motivated and skilled Veterinary Assistant who takes ownership, enjoys continuous learning, provides exceptional patient care, and is passionate about delivering outstanding client service! Responsibilities:

Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures

Collect and process laboratory samples including blood, urine, and tissue specimens

Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian

Monitor and care for patients pre- and post-operatively

Perform dental cleanings, radiology, and other technical procedures

Educate and communicate with pet owners regarding care, medications, and treatment plans

Maintain accurate patient medical records using practice management software

Ensure clinic cleanliness, equipment sterilization, and inventory management

Duties will be assigned in accordance with California law and under. the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.

Requirements:

2+ years of hands-on experience as veterinary assistant or veterinary technician preferred.

Experienced Veterinary Assistants without an RVT license are encouraged to apply.

Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring preferred

Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology

Excellent communication and client education skills

Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes safely and compassionately

Team-oriented, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Positive Attitude, Ownership mindset and Team-first mentality
