Position Summary:
The Veterinary Technician works closely with our veterinarians and support team to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.
This position requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to remain organized in a busy veterinary environment.
We are seeking a technician who is comfortable taking initiative, anticipating the needs of the veterinarian and patient, and contributing wherever needed to keep the hospital running efficiently.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Obtain thorough patient histories from pet owners
Perform and accurately document TPRs and other vital signs
Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats
Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples
Place and maintain IV catheters
Prepare and process laboratory samples
Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures
Prepare patients and equipment for surgical and dental procedures
Assist during surgery and monitor patients under anesthesia
Monitor and provide appropriate care to patients during recovery
Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
Maintain accurate and complete medical records
Review medication and at-home care instructions with clients
Communicate professionally and compassionately with pet owners
Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment and patient-care areas
Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, reception, and other support staff
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of veterinary technician experience required
Strong knowledge of veterinary patient care, vaccines, medications, and animal handling
Experience with blood draws and IV catheter placement
Surgical and anesthesia-monitoring experience preferred
Comfortable safely handling both dogs and cats
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Dependable, punctual, and professional
Able to take initiative while also following established protocols and veterinarian direction
Strong commitment to teamwork and high-quality patient care
Compensation: $18.00–$23.00 per hour, based on experience, technical skill level, and qualifications.
Schedule:
Full-time position
Approximately 40 hours per week
Weekend availability is required
Schedule may include varying shifts based on hospital needs
