Job Description
DESIGN ENGINEER-MEDICAL DEVICES
12+ month contract assignment in Irvine CA. Medical device company seeking Design Engineers to assist with design/development of medical equipment and devices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Create mechanical models of design concepts and drawings in SolidWorks
3D CAD solid modelling
Drive ideation, design, hands-on prototyping, and feasibility testing of new concepts
Lead the design, development, and testing of capital equipment and cable designs
Generate test protocols, reports and supporting documentation for formal design verification
Identify, evaluate, manage, and provide technical guidance to suppliers
Mentor junior-level technical staff An effective candidate must have hands-on skills with the proven ability to independently apply deep technical knowledge, perform detailed design analyses, and employ sound judgment to lead complex initiatives. Looking for creative mechanical engineers with the following experience and attributes:
Electro-mechanical integration and electronics exposure
Knowledge of design and manufacturing of electro-mechanical medical devices
Solid understanding of general manufacturing processes including machining and injection molding
Demonstrated innovation, curiosity, and ability to tackle complex technical problems
Established track record of delivering on projects in a high energy environment
Strong mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of and proven experience in design, manufacturing, and commercial release of capital equipment
Strong design skills including 3D CAD solid modeling software and other analytical tools (SolidWorks, Creo, FEA, Matlab)
Hands-on experience with 3D CAD data management systems
Deep knowledge of materials for use in medical devices
Experience with DFM methodologies and a passion for delivering highly-manufacturable products SKILLS: The top 3 skills needed: -SolidWorks Design Experience -Molded Plastic Part Design -Electrical Enclosure Design This person can have medical, industrial, or aerospace experience. Non-invasive patient sensor design and development experience is required
Experience with electro-mechanical medical devices
Deep knowledge of injection molding, machining, and thermoforming design methodologies for reusable, capital equipment, and cable assembly components
Solid understanding of general manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, thermoforming, extrusions, additive manufacturing, surface treatments, and various plastic part joining technologies
Experience with SolidWorks or Creo Parametric CAD solid modeling software is required
Hands-on use of finite element analysis (FEA) tools (i.e. ANSYS) is desired
Strong understanding of the ASME Y14.5M-2009 drawing standards EDUCATION: Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 6 years experience including either industry or industry/education, Or Master's Degree or equivalent 5 years experience including either industry or industry/education, Or Ph.D. or equivalent in in Engineering or Scientific field , 2 years experience including either industry or industry/education LANGUAGES: English -Read Write Speak
