One Animal Breeding and Research Technician position is available within the Contract Research Group at Explora Biolabs' San Diego Site. Explora Biolabs is a California based biotech company founded in 2004 that conducts first-in-class preclinical research. This position requires the candidate to be highly motivated and work independently in a fast-paced work environment. Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete animal care and husbandry responsibilities.
- Ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met.
- Provide food, water and clean housing to animals according to applicable SOPs.
- Follow breeding study protocols.
- Maintain rodent breeding colonies.
- Responsible for breeding setup, weaning and tail clipping.
- Update breeding projects progress on a daily basis.
- Maintain accurate records.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- May participate in animal research activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift.
- Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or BS preferred.
