At a Famous Toastery, the Kitchen Expo (or Expediter) acts as the crucial liaison between the kitchen line (Back of House) and the waitstaff (Front of House). They ensure fresh, made-from-scratch meals are perfectly timed, accurately plated, and rapidly delivered to guests.
Key Responsibilities
Ticket Management: Reads incoming orders, controls the pace of the kitchen, and directs cooks on when to fire specific dishes.
Quality Control: Inspects all finished dishes for Famous Toastery’s quality standards, correct modifications, and beautiful presentation before they leave the kitchen.
Garnishing & Plating: Puts the final touches on dishes (e.g., adding garnishes, wiping plate edges) and assembles sides or condiments.
Bridging Communication: Relays guest requests, food allergies, and timing updates between servers and line cooks.
Order Dispatch: Organizes hot food for food runners, ensuring all items for a single table are ready to be served simultaneously.
Station Upkeep: Keeps the expo pass clean, sanitized, and fully stocked with plating tools, napkins, and garnishes.
Core Requirements
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced brunch and breakfast environment.
Strong multitasking skills and the ability to read and manage multiple tickets simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills to coordinate between kitchen staff and front-of-house team members.
