We are looking for an experienced Espresso amp; Coffee Equipment Maintenance Technician amp; Driver who shares our commitment to excellence.
Position Summary
The Coffee Shop Maintenance Technician ensures the reliability, performance, and longevity of all coffee brewing equipment. This role is essential to maintaining smooth daily operations, minimizing downtime, and preserving our commitment to serving exceptional coffee. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills, along with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly in a fast-paced environment. This position combines field service, scheduled delivery routes, and in-house production assistance when equipment service demands are light.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain commercial espresso machines, coffee grinders, and drip brewers
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including cleaning, de-scaling, lubrication, calibration, and part replacement
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to quickly resolve equipment failures
- Maintain and repair water filtration and treatment systems to ensure optimal water quality
- Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation
- Manage and track inventory of tools, parts, and replacement components
- Log service reports, document maintenance work, and maintain up-to-date equipment records
- Program and update equipment software as required and document service outcomes.
- Communicate professionally with baristas, managers, and vendors during onsite repairs
- Participate in an on-call rotation covering evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays for emergency service needs.
- Lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., and work on your feet for extended periods
- Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times
Delivery and Logistics
- · Deliver coffee and related products to hospitality and wholesale customers on scheduled routes, typically three days per week.
- · Load, unload, and safely transport products, equipment, and parts.
- · Represent the company professionally at customer locations and provide a high level of service during deliveries.
Production and Warehouse Support
- Assist with coffee production, packaging, labeling, and order fulfillment when not actively engaged in service calls or deliveries.
- Support inventory organization, restocking, and basic warehouse operations.
- Coordinate with production and operations staff to meet daily and weekly output needs.
- Inventory and Vehicle Management
- Maintain parts inventory on the assigned service vehicle, including routine physical counts and restocking.
- Keep the service vehicle, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company standards.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Technical and Mechanical Expertise: In-depth understanding of espresso machines, grinders, and brewers, including hydraulics, water pressure, and electrical systems
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Ability to quickly analyze issues and implement effective solutions
- Preventative Maintenance: Strong routine servicing skills to maintain equipment reliability
- Water System Knowledge: Experience with water filtration, reverse osmosis systems, and scaling prevention
- Tools and Safety: Skilled in using specialized hand and power tools
- Communication: Clear, patient communication, especially during peak operating hours
- Administrative Ability: Basic computer skills for logging work orders and updating maintenance software
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 to 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance, appliance repair, or related technical work
- Experience with commercial coffee equipment is highly preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, for travel between locations if needed
- Specialized training or certification in beverage equipment technology is a strong plus
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
