    Job Description

    General Description

    Extracta Group LLC is hiring independent contractors for a multi-year cable recovery project in the metro Portland area. We have an immediate opening for qualified and dependable people for our MCV cable scrapper truck crews extracting and cutting copper telecom cables. This is performed using specialized hydraulic cable pulling trucks that cut cable as it is removed from manholes.,

    As a member of the field extraction crew, you will have multiple duties including driving a heavy duty pick up & trailer, loading cables onto the trailer as the chopper truck cuts and feeds them, setting up cones, signs and arrow boards in accordance with MUTCD traffic control requirements for the extraction trucks, and operating a water pump to remove water from manholes as needed.

    The ideal candidates will have experience supervising field construction work requiring heavy industrial machinery, performing construction work involving loading or unloading materials. Knowledge or experience in roadwork and traffic controls is a plus. Previous experience in Telcom outside plant or electric utility work also a plus. Extracta will provide hands-on training on the procedures and processes utilized. Extracta will supply vehicles, traffic control materials and pumps necessary for the job.

    Duties

    Duties include the following:

    · Drive and operate extraction support vehicle(s): pick up & trailer or traffic control pickup as needed to job sites

    · Arriving at work sites with vehicles on time to set up traffic control and prepare to load cables

    · Set up traffic control signs, cones, and arrow per MUTCD diagrams applicable to the location quickly and correctly. Be able to pick up traffic controls and re-set at several work sites per day.

    · Pump storm runoff water from flooded manholes using a high-volume pump into adjacent storm drains

    · Load cut cable onto a trailer as the chopper truck cuts and dispenses it in an organized manner

    · Perform all work in accordance within the Extracta procedures for worker, network and public safety

    · All MUTCD traffic control requirements are met when working on public streets

    · Trucks and equipment are correctly operated and maintained for continuous use

    · Perform other duties as needed by the extraction team to assist the project

    Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, as well as insurance. If required by the client, a background check may be needed. Extraction work requires physical activity, and applicant must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb up and down ladders in manholes, perform work in confined spaces and operate vehicles with manual transmissions.

    Salary

    These are Independent Contract (1099) positions. Pay in commensurate with experience:

    Pay Range: $22-$25 per hour depending on experience.

    A typical work week will be a minimum of 40 hours, occasional overtime required. Nights and weekends are not expected. Position reports to the Extraction Supervisor.

     

    Location & Duration of Project

    This is the first phase of a multi-phase project for the client in the Pacific Northwest. Opportunities exist for future projects in other locations in the future
