  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary :

    The Extruder Operator is responsible for the setup and safe operation of the extrusion equipment in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements for the purpose of processing recyclable film material to resin pellets in an efficient and safe manner.

    ** Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

    • Set up, adjust, calibrate, and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature, and general operation.

    • Examine visually, weigh, and measure components to ensure machines are produced according to company and industry regulations and standards, adjusting as needed.

    • Work with team members, shift supervisors, and all necessary personnel to take care of complications as they arise.

    • Utilizes HMI-Human Machine Interface to run and maintain equipment in production. Including specific equipment parameters and performance feedback.

    • Communicate with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and take care of them as they come up.

    • Use regulated cleaning solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses, and cleaning cloth to properly maintain and clean equipment per preventative maintenance schedules or on a bimonthly basis.

    • Make repairs to equipment, when necessary, equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency.

    • Choose and install cutters, molds, and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency.

    • Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety, health, quality, and good manufacturing practices policies and procedures.

    • The position shall be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and area by utilizing cleaning solutions, pressure washers, and other equipment to accomplish the task, meeting 5S and Preventive Maintenance requirements.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management or apparent.

    ** Experience and Qualifications:**

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Education requirements are listed as a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

    • Work Authorization- A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    • Prefer a minimum of 1 year prior related experience in extrusion operation in a production workspace regulated by OSHA.

    • Must complete and pass OSHA’s requirements for forklift certification (powered industrial truck) training as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.178 within the required plant management timeframe (usually within 4 weeks of the start date).

    • Strong knowledge of manufacturing.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    • Good customer skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

    • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.

    • Good follow-through ability; ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.

    • The ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

    • Demonstrate good attendance with the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as required.

    ** Work Environment, Schedule, and Physical Demands:**

    The work environment is on the plant floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and we expect members to wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) including hearing protection while on the plant floor and other required areas.
    We have a 24/7 process operation. The work schedule for this position by recurring shift rotations that will average 40-45 hours per week. The planned schedule for this position is:

    • Day Shift – 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday, rotating days off, working every other weekend

    • Night Shift – 7 pm to 7 am, Monday through Friday, rotating days off, working every other weekend

    This position will require the following physical demands.

    • There will be moderate lifting - up to 50 pounds,

    • Continually required to: talk or hear; utilize hand and finger dexterity; utilize close and distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    • Frequently required to: Stand, climb stairs, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl; work near moving mechanical parts; work around fumes/airborne particles; work in high, precarious places; exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); exposure to outside weather conditions.

    • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: Forklift, Extruder, and HMI.
