    About the Positions

    Eye to Eye is seeking various interns to assist in a variety of roles as described below at our annual Young Leaders Organizing Institute event from Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, through Sunday, August 6th, 2023. The Young Leaders Organizing Institute (OI) is a week-long intensive training program held at the University of Denver in Denver, CO. Over 250 young adult leaders, staff, board members, and community partners attend the OI to build community and leadership skills through workshops, social events, and inspiring seminars with leading role models from the national stage. All interns receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Denver for the week of the Organizing Institute, including transportation, lodging, meals, and entertainment.

    What You'll Do

    Logistics Interns (Multiple Openings)

    Logistics Interns work behind the scenes to ensure a seamless event. Additionally, they become beloved members of the Eye to Eye community by contributing positively to the OI activities, while supporting as role models, problem solvers, and team players.

    Logistics Intern responsibilities include:

    • Working with Eye to Eye staff to ensure that all spaces and facilities are set up for programming;
    • Supporting ground transportation, running errands, and facilitating participant pick-ups and drop-offs;
    • Ensuring participants have a positive experience and are engaged throughout training and social events;
    • Facilitating the logistics for the photography and videography shoot for attendees;
    • Learning from and contributing to Eye to Eye's community of different learners.

    Resident Advisors (Multiple Openings)

    Resident Advisors support by facilitating an environment within the residence halls/dormitories that contribute to the overall intellectual, social, physical, moral, and cultural environment of the OI.

    Resident Advisor's responsibilities include:

    • Foster a fun and safe environment for all student participants in the residence halls;
    • Be on-call each night from 8 pm-8 am for activities, room checks, lockouts, safety or security concerns, conflict resolution, or general problem-solving and student support;
    • Enforce various policies, including substance-free residence halls, quiet hours, and high school student curfews in collaboration with a team of Residence Hall Leaders;
    • Plan and facilitate nightly games and activities to foster social connections and community amongst student attendees with a team of Residence Hall Leaders;
    • Serve as a highly visible mentor and resource for student attendees throughout the week;
    • Model expectations of living in the dormitories while being a support to attendees.

    Community Leader (Multiple Openings)

    Community Leaders are alumni who have previously attended the OI and who have excelled in leading programming at their schools and support the next generation of leaders at the OI. Community Leaders serve as mentors, motivators, and problem solvers who also pitch in to make sure the logistics of the large-scale event run efficiently.

    Community Leader's responsibilities include:

    • Collaborate with Program Coordinators and Chapter Leaders on various projects and sessions;
    • Supporting Chapter Leaders throughout training and social events, ensuring a positive experience;
    • Working behind the scenes with the OI Program staff to make sure everything is running smoothly and safely.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Available for the OI from Tuesday, August 1st through Sunday, August 6th;
    • 16 years of age or older by August 1st for Logistics Interns, or 18 years of age for Resident Advisors and Community Leaders;
    • Passion for, and commitment to, the mission, vision, and goals of Eye to Eye;
    • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with energy and creativity;
    • Energetic, entrepreneurial, hardworking, and fun;
    • Experience with first aid, counseling, and emergency response or crisis management is preferred for all roles;
    • Previous experience as an Eye to Eye Chapter Leader or Neurodiversity Alliance Club Leader required for Community Leader roles
    • Previous experience as a Resident Advisor (RA) or overnight camp counselor is strongly preferred for Resident Advisor roles, as is familiarity with the University of Denver campus;

    Compensation

    Eye to Eye will provide a total stipend of $500 for the week, plus free travel to/from Denver, on-campus lodging, and all meals paid for.

    Application Timeline

    • Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted through Friday, April 28th, 2023 or until all roles are filled
    • Interview Process : Eye to Eye utilizes a two-step interview process that typically involves an initial 30-minute screening call with a member of our Operations team and a 30-minute follow-up interview with your internship team lead. Interviews will ideally take place on a rolling basis starting the week of April 3rd through May 26th.
    • Decision made : A decision will be made, with an offer letter drafted by no later than Friday, June 2nd.
