    EyenamicsNY is a state of the art opthalmology practice located in Forest Hills. We are a busy practice whose mission is to provide neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma care to the New York City population. We are seeking to hire pre-medical and pre-optometry students for one to two year positions as ophthalmology technicians/ assistants. Qualified individuals will be fully trained on the job.

    Our goal is to integrate qualified candidates into the daily flow of our primarily specialized ophthalmology practice. The roles in this position will include tasks of a ophthalmic assistant, scribe, patient care coordination and medical record management. In these roles, you can expect first hand clinical exposure to a vast array of ophthalmological conditions and begin to develop an understanding of their medical/surgical management. This direct patient contact will also help to develop appropriate skills for communication in patient education and involvement in the coordination of their care.

    Medical Scribing

    Taking patient history

    Autorefraction

    Lensometry

    Visual acuity

    Intraocular pressure

    Automated visual fields

    Slit lamp photography

    Pachymetry

    Fundus Photography

    Retinal imaging (OCT)

    Biometry

    Upon completion of working in this capacity, the pre-medical student could expect to have developed a better sense of professionalism in medicine, improved skills in effective communication, a clear understanding of coordination of care and a great appreciation for the patient/physician relationship. From an educational standpoint you should expect to be charged with reading, projects, case discussions/presentations and periodic staff meetings. You will also have the benefit of direct mentorship from the board certified clinicians with whom you will work very closely each day.
