We are currently hiring a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team to work a hybrid schedule in our Carlsbad office.

About the role

The Staff Accountant's primary responsibility will be to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data, including processing accounts payable, recording transactions, preparing and recording journal entries, and reconciling GL accounts. The Staff Accountant will also be required to process payroll semi-monthly and verify/confirm all bonuses and commissions that must be added to the payroll.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and other financial operations following Ezoic's policies and internal controls.
• Process payroll for approximately 250 employees on a semi-monthly basis. UKG experience is a plus.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Work closely with the Senior Manager of Accounting to complete all month-end steps to produce financial results based on Ezoic's month-end close schedule.
• Assist in preparing financial reports such as consolidated financial statements and budget performance reports.
• Analyze account activity and provide detailed explanations of variances against historical and/or forecasted results.
• Work closely with the Senior Manager of Accounting and outside auditors to help complete the annual consolidated financial statement audit.
• Support ad hoc projects and other needs that may arise.

What's needed for success

• Must have at least 3+ years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
• Experience managing accounts payable.
• Must have a complete understanding of GAAP accounting.
• Can work as a team and independently.
• A self-starter who is not afraid to dive in and figure things out.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Experience working within Netsuite is desired.

Helpful skills

• Experience with Intercompany transactions and consolidation.
• Experience with ASC 842.
• Experience with ASC 606.

The estimated base salary range for this role is $73,000 to $95,000 annually. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of related education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
