FACILITIES FIELD ENGINEER - CONSTRUCTION
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Construction Field Representative monitors and documents the work in progress on-site for facility projects during construction, commissioning, final acceptance, and post-construction phases to ensure the work is executed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and the project schedule.
Essential Job Functions:
· Serve as a liaison between the contractors, tradespeople, architect (if applicable), owners, and engineers
· Interpret model and/or 2D drawings to confirm installation conforms to design intent
· Review and evaluate construction documents for client compliance and shop submittals
· Understand the overall commissioning plan, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures to support completion
· Provide field checks and gather site/facility photos during and upon completion of the project.
· Attend construction meetings on behalf of the project engineering team and owner.
· Supervise the installation of systems and conduct or oversee pre-functional and functional performance testing to verify operation
· Act as an independent reviewer to identify and resolve deficiencies or issues
· Serve as liaison between the owner, contractor, and project stakeholders, providing clear and professional communication
· Prepare final reports to document the commissioning process, including confirmation that the facility or system meets the owners’ requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred or related work experience (Process Controls knowledge a plus)
PMP Certification a plus
Experience:
10 years of experience with construction and the administration of construction contracts (aka: fabrication and installation of mechanical systems).
Skills/Competencies:
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Schedule, AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred
Excellent communication and written skills
Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems, such as:
Dust Collection duct from process equipment to (and from) source
Organic exhaust from process equipment to and through exhaust systems (fans included)
Mechanical piping from process equipment to and from sources (pumps included)
Ductwork & Mechanical piping
N2, Compressed Air, Process Cooling water, Electrolyte pipe, DEC pipe, Waste Pipe, DCW pipe, Drain piping, Vac piping, Helium Pipe, Electrical
