    Location: Broadview Heights, Ohio Reports To: Operations/Technology Manager Employment Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

    Position Summary:

    The Facility Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for participants, staff, and visitors at Care Forever adult senior day center. This role supports daily operations by ensuring all program areas meet health, safety, and regulatory standards, contributing to the overall well-being and comfort of older adults served.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of common areas, restrooms, activity rooms, dining areas, offices, and entrances

    Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors, including carpet and hard surfaces

    Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces (e.g., door handles, railings, tables, chairs)

    Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, hand sanitizer, and cleaning materials

    Safely handle and dispose of trash, recyclables, and biohazard materials (if applicable)

    Assist with laundry duties, including washing, drying, and folding linens or participant items as needed

    Monitor facility for maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, damage, safety hazards) and report promptly to management

    Set up and break down rooms for activities, meals, and special events

    Maintain outdoor areas such as entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas (e.g., light snow removal, debris cleanup)

    Follow infection control procedures and universal precautions at all times

    Ensure compliance with local, state, and organizational health and safety regulations

    Support emergency cleaning needs (e.g., spills, accidents) in a timely and professional manner

    Interact respectfully with participants, maintaining dignity and confidentiality

    May assist leadership with scheduling and performing required safety drills

    Required Qualifications:

    High school diploma or GED preferred

    Prior janitorial, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred (healthcare or senior services setting a plus)

    Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and safe use of cleaning chemicals

    Must pass background check and meet any applicable state requirements for working in a senior care setting

    Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

    Dependable, punctual, and able to follow schedules and task lists

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Understanding of infection control practices preferred

    Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and safe use of cleaning chemicals

    Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum, floor buffer, mop systems)

    Physical Demands:

    Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods; ability to push and pull objects and lift and carry up to 35 pounds, unassisted, frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Full use of gross and fine motor skills of the upper and lower extremities (i.e., documenting task lists, using cleaning supplies & equipment, etc.)

    Working Conditions:

    Primarily inside in well-lit, well-ventilated areas up to 8 hours per day.
