Job Description
The Senior Business Configuration Analyst works as a consulting team member or an individual consultant, providing crucial knowledge, expertise, research, and formulated analysis on an implementation, enhancement, integration, or special project(s). Expertise and work efforts are focused on the research, analysis, and implementation of client goals, and on the needs of the general business environment. Duties may be performed at customer’s site. They may serve as a pre-sales support specialist when needed. The Senior Business Configuration Analyst is able to work unsupervised and exercises completely independent judgement when providing solutions to issues and assisting peers. They conduct the most complex and vital work that is critical to the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
30% - 50% Works on medium to large-sized, single or multi-product projects, usually with multiple computer environments where design is extremely complex:
Performs configuration tasks on multiple major FAST system components.
Interviews clients during requirements gathering exercises and documents findings in a Business Systems Requirements (BSR) or Business Requirements Definition Document (BRD).
Facilitates and manages design sessions regarding business functionality and/or product logic with customer(s). Runs product design sessions and business with customers.
Using detailed knowledge of regulations, calculations and processing, routinely guides detailed discussions with customers regarding at least two (2) of the following product types: UL/VUL, Traditional Products, Deferred Annuities and Immediate Annuities.
Shares business knowledge and ideas with team members, senior management, and others through mentoring and/or group presentations.
Authors functional specifications from limited BSR(s), or with no BSR(s), through independent discussions with customers.
Authors functional specifications for multiple FAST solutions: Home Office, Administration, Payout Administration, Application, Underwriting, Illustrations Calculations, Illustrations and Technical Integration.
Estimates schedules, quality and quantity of resources required to successfully implement project; assists in developing project plan incorporating all project variables.
Provides periodic status checks with customers and team to review project deliverables and deadlines. Performs re-forecasts of project variables as necessary throughout project.
Guides and shapes discussion with customers on best practices while recognizing improvement opportunities.
Prepares status reports, as needed, on all project activities.
Breaks down stories into requirements and requirements into tasks.
Engages in process modeling and data modeling.
30% - 50% Provides guidance to less experienced staff, as needed, assists in employment related decisions and matters.
<15% Serves as advisory-level pre-sales support and post-sales technical support specialist when needed.
<15% Acts as a liaison between customers and company.
Qualifications
Essential Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, sales or computer science. Advanced degree desirable. Typically requires seven or more years of experience in relevant industry business practices, or business consulting. In-depth knowledge of the financial services (Life & Annuity) industry, organization, and experience with technical consulting required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
The Senior Business Configuration Analyst must be intellectually curious, demonstrate excellent presentation, organization, and planning skills. They will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, allowing them to work well as a team member and customer liaison.
The Senior Business Configuration Analyst must have highly proficient PC skills, specifically within Microsoft Office and database software, preferably having prior technical experience. They will be proficient in System Usage on an advanced level. They will be able to create stories and manage governance data and perform moderate to complex configuration tasks.
