    Job Description

    We are a premium vitamin manufacturer providing innovative pectin-based nutritional gummy products that are created to improve the quality of our customers’ lives; is seeking to add a leader to our team as our company accelerates on an exciting growth curve.

    We are seeking an exceptional candidate with strong leadership attributes, with a balanced approach to achieving high-quality results, delivering on business and customer commitments while motivating the team to work safely with excellence and passion.

    This role will have responsibility for a leading safety program.

    This is a multifaceted program that requires extraordinary people skills combined with deep knowledge of safety requirements and OSHA compliance, and related.

     

    The manufacturing environment at is outlined immediately below:

    • Weigh and Dispense
    • "Cooking” of the gummy recipe
    • Operating the gummy deposition line and harvest of gummies from the line
    • Fill/Pack operations
    • Support area of “kitchen” operations for cleaning and sanitation

     

    HERE ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATIONS IN MANUFACTURING 

    • First Shift: 5:00 AM – 01:30 PM

    • Second Shift: 01:00 PM – 09:30 PM

    • Third Shift: 9:00 PM – 05:30 AM

    • The current operation has just over 200 people working at the site, with approximately 70 being company employees.

    • Knowledge and experience in the food and beverage industry is a very helpful foundation for this role, as it will help understand the type of hazards and potential hazards of the operation.

    • This candidate must understand how to implement and support maintaining a safe and compliant workplace while balancing that with being cost-effective and efficient and compliant.

    • The scope of the role, in the context of people, will be responsible for the site.

    • The programs, initiatives, safety systems and processes will be for the site.

    • The skills to influence and motivate people will be foundational. company opertions must be a lean, efficient group, executing with excellence, and delivering on the goals for providing our customers with the highest quality nutritional gummies in the industry.

    • This role will assist all of the Sr Leaders at company, in creating and maintaining a safe operating workplace.

     

    REQUIREMENTS FOR A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE: As a small but rapidly growing firm, any role in this organization must be committed to demonstrating the ability to “jump in” and do what is necessary to achieve the company standards and deliver to our customers, while possessing the maturity to know when to step back, assess, and execute their job in a highly effective manner.

     

    • Align with the company Purpose, foundational value or Caring, and its four cornerstone values.
    • Significant experience in a safety role in a manufacturing environment.
    • Additional experience in operating in CA and/or in food and beverage is a big plus.
    • Significant background in OHSA, general safety, DuPont programs is expected.
    • Experience in GMP is desired.
    • Experience in safety audits, leading safety teams, near-miss programs, OHSA reporting, incident documentation are expected.
    • Knowledge of office ergonomics and office safety and injury avoidance is also highly valuable for the role.
    • Experience with performing a safety risk assessment for new equipment, operations, office functions and related, highly desirable.
    • General knowledge of good manufacturing practice and a high-level understanding of operating in a regulated environment is very helpful.
    • The ability to partner with QA to find compliant solutions that enhance personal safety is expected.
    • Communication skills: listening and verbal, will be an asset to a strong candidate.
    • The role requires clear verbal communication skills and thoughtful decision-making. The role also requires the ability to concisely create reports and records of incidents, OSHA
    • reporting and related.
    • Identification and management of PPE supplies will be a responsibility of this role.
    • The role is intended to have the purchasing authority for PPE and related safety supplies.

    This role must determine the cost effectiveness of intern versus contracted services.

    EXAMPLES:

    • Fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance, eye wash and shower station maintenance, as examples
    • Excellent documentation skills.
    • Ability to lead and represent company in an OSHA or related external safety inspection.
    • Develop, track and report to Sr. Leadership, appropriate and meaningful safety metrics which provide insight and enable sound decision-making and risk management by the
    • leaders of the business.
    • Ability to build relationships while driving accountability and personal responsibility.
    • The confidence to stop and inform employees of unsafety practices, missing PPE, better lifting techniques and also having the “tough conversations” with leadership if adequate
    • safety is not being observed and needs to be addressed.
    • Achieving and delivering timely results, in a manner consistent with company values, is requisite for this role.
    • Fluency in both English and Spanish are very desirable.
