Job Summary
We are seeking a full time detail oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our team! This position will involve assisting in contract management, reviewing contract documents, and requesting associated paperwork. You will also be assisting the estimating department in determining their supply needs, placing and tracking orders, arranging freight, and monitoring inventory levels. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multitask and shift priorities as needed, and an understanding of supply chain procedures.
Responsibilities
- Process supply requests
- Place orders, follow up on delays, and maintain strong working relationships with vendors
- Maintain accurate inventory levels, ordering an appropriate amount of product before it is at critical levels
- Evaluate offers from multiple vendors, determining the best place to order based on price and quality, conducting research as necessary to find an appropriate supplier
- Manage vendor contracts
- Evaluate specific needs for each project and request appropriate documentation
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar position desired
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of the supply chain and common issues surrounding it, desired
- The ability to multitask and shift priorities
