    Job Description

    Backstory

    FMG Suite is a marketing software company based in San Diego that serves about 25,000 small business owners, primarily financial advisors, and insurance agents. Our extensive content library is the heart of our product. Each month, our Creative Team writes, designs, and publishes over 150 original videos, articles, presentations, and other digital content across multiple brands and channels. We work hard to make sure our content actually gets results for our customers. That’s where you come in.

    Context & Responsibilities As our team’s Content Marketing Strategist, you’ll be responsible for strategizing new content, as well as maximizing what we already have. Think of this role as a coin with two sides: on one side, you’ll be responsible for strategizing multi-channel digital marketing campaigns that our customers can use to generate new leads (hint: you should definitely have some experience doing this). On the other side of the coin, you will work within our existing content universe to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. On an average day, that coin may flip a few times. 

    Some other responsibilities:

    • Spot industry trends and patterns and help us make smart, context-specific decisions
    • Experiment with new-to-us ideas based on proven marketing best practices 
    • Cultivate an expert-level understanding of how successful financial advisors are marketing themselves 
    • Find ways to use the “whole animal” of our content, nose to tail (for example, turn a whitepaper into a series of blog posts, then condense those into a social sequence) 
    • Perform content audits (qualitative analyses of our content’s effectiveness) as well as gap analyses to determine topical and niche focus
    • Work closely with our designers, copywriters, and publishers to understand style guides, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and multi-layered editorial production calendars

    Please only apply if your job history includes 3-5 years of experience with digital marketing and content strategy development.

    Essential Skills

    • Experience with planning, delivering, and executing digital and social media marketing campaigns that convert (ideally you’ll have 3-5 years of this)
    • Be inspired by the experimental nature of marketing, and excited to tinker and iterate
    • Well-honed instincts for what ‘great marketing’ looks and sounds like
    • Enthusiasm for collaboration, and a willingness to run with things on your own
    • Resourcefulness at developing smart content recycling strategies 
    • Comfort with performing large content audits and leading migration projects

     

    Great To Have 

    • Knowledge of the financial services industry and/or compliance regulation constraints
    • Experience making content for a marketing software platform
    • Experience with project management and overseeing creative contractors 
    • Excellent sense of humor and an appreciation for puns
