    Job Summary

    We are seeking a friendly and service-oriented Garden Center Associate to join our team! This is a seasonal position (March-November) and you will work both indoors and outdoors. In this position, you will assist customers with shopping for plants and instructing them how to take care of their plants for excellent growth. Responsibilities may include working the register, answering the telephone, using a 2-way radio, stocking plants and plant material, taking care of plants and maintaining the store’s appearance. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of plants, previous experience in customer service and knowledge of cash register operation.

    Responsibilities

    Greet customers with a smile in a professional and friendly manner

    Assist customers with plant selection and landscaping ideas

    Advise customers about plant care, watering and fertilizing best practices

    Advise customers about insecticide products and their use

    General care of plants (watering, pruning, labeling)

    Moving and displaying plants, including trees, shrubs, perennials, etc.

    Work at a register to ring up and carry out customer sales.

    Develop and maintain solid product knowledge in order to best help customers with their selections.

    Assist with handling telephone calls

    General upkeep of garden center (sweeping floors, cleaning counters, etc.)

    Qualifications

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    Ability to read, count, write, and communicate clearly and effectively

    Good math skills

    Ability to lift at least 25 lbs throughout the day

    Understanding of sales techniques and best practices in customer service

    Willingness to work well in a team environment

    Ability to quickly and accurately work a register

    Willingness to work a flexible schedule
