    BACKGROUND:

    The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), was created by and for members and operates as a member-driven 501(c)(6), not-for-profit entity. FS-ISAC serves as a bi-directional information and intelligence organization leading the Financial Services Sector efforts to protect against and mitigate cyber and physical threats and incidents against member firms.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This internship is part of the FS-ISAC's “Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) Talent Pipeline”, and will deliver practical cyber threat intelligence skills and knowledge to the intern through on-the-job training and industry work experience. The intern will gain skills and knowledge by providing support to and being mentored by staff in the following three roles within our Global Intelligence Office (GIO): Intelligence Officer (IO), Technical Intelligence Analyst (TA), and Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA).

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct multiple-source intelligence analysis on current and emerging threats using advanced research methods and analytical techniques to produce polished, actionable intelligence reports.
    • Provide support to the Cybersecurity and Technical Analysts to deliver tactical/technical intelligence to FS-ISAC members on threats to the sector and incident reporting, in accordance with FS-ISAC classification and handling protocols.
    • Monitor and analyze real-time and historical information, and conduct research using various sources/tools.
    • Throughout the course of the internship, develop in-depth knowledge of Financial Services Sector assets, functions, and institutions to provide meaningful critical information support.
    • Participate in information security and cyber threat intelligence training and events.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or concentration in cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field.
    • Technical Skills — Has basic knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, threats, and technologies that can be applied to threat research and intelligence sharing.
    • Communication Skills — Displays effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to compose finished intelligence reports in a timely, concise, and accurate manner by FS-ISAC standards.
    • Critical Thinking — Possesses the ability to approach data collection and data analysis in an objective, logical, and rational manner; understands biases and exercises informed judgment and initiative.
    • Organizational Skills — Possesses strong time management skills to work multiple processes simultaneously to a high degree of quality.

    PREFERED SKILLS:

    • Programming skills, including the ability to script in Python.­­­­ ­
    • Familiarity with advanced Excel functions, including creating pivot tables and formulas.
    • Familiarity with the FS-ISAC, our mission, and the overall Financial Services Sector.
    • Familiarity with the (US and global) intelligence community, law enforcement, and other relevant international organizations.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This is a hybrid internship position that reports to Reston, VA headquarters (work-from-office: M & W, work-from-home:T, R, & F).
