    Fab Lab Engagement Manager

    Typical Work Schedule

    Academic Year: Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Friday 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

    Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Fridays off)

    Note: Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for program events

    Salary & Benefits Salary Range: $40,000-$50,470 commensurate with education and experience

    Position Summary The Fab Lab Engagement Manager will work to promote and support Fab Lab ICC with local school districts, the ICC campus community, the community of Independence and beyond. The position will be familiar with goals, outcomes, and learning objectives for the different grade levels and utilize lessons that meet those objectives in a new way—with emphasis on applied learning—for educators using fabrication laboratory facilities. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of ICC FabLab equipment or have the capability to learn equipment through peer training.

    This is a 12-month position. The Fab Lab Engagement Manager reports to the Senior Director for Industry and Employer Engagement.

    Qualifications Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.

    Experience and demonstrated skill in planning, programs, and policies, as well as in the development and evaluation of programs and policies.

    • Ability to keep up to date on current trends in STEM

    • Ability to market programs

    • Ability to act as an effective oral and written communicator and as a consensus-builder working to maintain collaborative working relationships

    • Be proactive; ability to work on own initiative

    • Must maintain current driver’s license and have ability to drive school vehicles

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Align Kansas K-12 curriculum with ICC FabLab offerings for educator and student experiences.

    Lead learning sessions with K-12 students

    Develop and execute ICC FabLab events with the goals of broadening access and awareness of STEM topics, and career pathways

    Create educational and engaging digital content highlight ICC’s youth development focus

    Develop outreach programs, coordinate user access to equipment, and provide technical guidance and training to users of all skill levels

    Plan and assist with camps, classes, and other student events

    Communicate with local school districts regarding opportunities to utilize ICC FabLab in their STEM education.

    Market ICC FabLab offerings to local school districts and the broader community

    Assist ICC FabLab clients and members with projects

    Purchase and manage equipment and supplies for programming as needed

    Serve on various campus committees as assigned.

    Performs other duties as assigned or required.
