Job Purpose:
The Regional Business Development Manager is responsible for winning new business opportunities for Fabrinet through the development of a Regional Strategy designed to utilize Manufacturer Rep channels and individual account development. This role includes finding and identifying customers that are a good fit for the company’s market segments, developing prospects that fit the company’s desired customer profile, generating bid opportunities, preparing bids and presentations, and driving the closure of new business wins. This role may also include developing and managing Manufacturer’s Reps in the BDM’s regional territory.
Key Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager:
Builds market position by locating prospective customers and Manufacturer’s Reps in a select set of Regions/Cities in the US. They will target key accounts in the regions and use standard business development processes to develop business opportunities in the target markets. Those markets include, Optical Communications, Industrial Lasers, Automotive and Medical. In addition, the candidate will lead the selected Manufacturer’s Reps in developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships.
- Using company research and strategy plans, will develop a market penetration plan based on their knowledge and experience. They will solicit, propose and negotiate Rep contracts and develop target account lists by City/Region in the markets where Reps are selected.
- Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting target customers and Rep partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
- Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending resource investments.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Job Qualifications:
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business
- Extensive knowledge of the optoelectronics or manufacturing services industry (EMS)
- Experience in high value, complex, long selling processes that include Engineering
- Knowledge of complex proposal processes in a manufacturing environment
- Track record of success in achieving business goals through Reps or Channels
Experience: +10 years of progressive experience in sales / business/market development roles
Required:
- Extensive experience in sales, market or business development in a highly complex, technical environment.
- Experience in hiring and managing Reps in the targeted territory, and managing successful achievement of business goals through those channels.
- Knowledge of program management, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations functions, with strong financial acumen. Able to manage complex quoting and P&L proposals.
- Dynamic builder of relationships with customers, with track record of identifying new areas of opportunity and negotiating complex business deals for mutual benefit.
- Track record in high-eight to nine-figure sales to OEM customers.
- Well versed in all MS Office applications.
- Be able and willing to travel
Required Training: Technical knowledge of optical/electrical systems, lasers, or electronic system design. Interpersonal, communication, Negotiation and presentation skills.
Professional Certification
5+ years experience in Optoelectronics, Optical Communications or Electronics Manufacturing Services required . Equivalent experience with technical sales may be considered.
