    Position summary: JMT is seeking an experienced Construction Manager willing to work in Charles County, MD, and one that is capable of performing construction management duties. The construction projects will include water and wastewater facilities, as well as water utility work. The CM will primarily provide construction project oversite to ensure quality field work and basic construction management responsibilities.

    Compensation for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications.

    Essential skills and responsibilities

    • Maintain excellent relationships with clients and contractors
    • Manage and coordinate inspection staff
    • Review and approve the contractor’s monthly payment requests
    • Review and approve cost proposals for change order work
    • Conduct project meetings and prepare meeting minutes
    • Coordinate the project activities with Plant operations to minimize operational impacts
    • Maintain correspondence with client representative as needed to keep client informed of project details
    • Interpret construction plans, specifications, requests for information (RFIs), submittals/shop drawings, and industry standard codes
    • Evaluate field work to ensure compliance with project specific requirements and industry standard practices

    Required Skills

    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
    • Knowledgeable in construction testing, inspection and commissioning requirements

    Required Experience

    • 10 years of experience in construction inspection and/or construction management
    • 5 years of experience on water/wastewater construction projects
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Experience using Electronic Project Management Programs

    Preferred Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architectural or a related field from an accredited engineering, construction management or architectural program
    • Knowledgeable with CPM scheduling. Experienced with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
    • OSHA Certified
    • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
    • Experience working with governmental agencies at the federal, city, county and state levels

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Office to field time is approximately 30% to 70% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be required.

    • Ability to take charge and effectively manage contractors to meet project schedule
    • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations with 10HR OSHA Safety card
    • The ability to work well with others, and willingness to learn in a team environment
    • Ability to evaluate contractor provided construction CPM schedules, including logic and sequencing
