Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q – San Antonio, Texas

Position Summary

Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q is looking for a dependable, hardworking Facilities & Equipment Cleaning Technician to help us maintain the high standards of cleanliness we expect in our restaurants.

This is a hands-on, physical job with a primary focus on deep cleaning the equipment and areas used in our Bar-B-Q production operations. This is not a desk job and it is not light housekeeping. The work can be dirty, greasy, wet, and physically demanding, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in seeing a tough cleaning job through from start to finish.

The position will rotate among our four Rudy’s locations throughout the San Antonio area, so reliable transportation is required.

We will provide the tools, equipment, supplies, and training needed to perform the job safely and correctly.

Primary Responsibilities

The Facilities & Equipment Cleaning Technician will be responsible for duties including:

Deep cleaning Bar-B-Q and production equipment

Removing grease, buildup, dirt, and debris from equipment and work areas

Pressure washing equipment, floors, exterior areas, and other designated surfaces

Scrubbing and rinsing floors, walls, equipment, and production areas

Cleaning floor drains and assisting with routine drain maintenance

Cleaning and maintaining restrooms

Performing general janitorial and cleaning duties throughout the restaurants

Painting and completing minor touch-up work as needed

Performing light maintenance and basic facility repairs within the employee’s training and ability

Cleaning hard-to-reach areas and areas that require more intensive cleaning than normal daily restaurant cleaning

Properly using cleaning chemicals, pressure washers, hand tools, and other provided equipment

Following Rudy’s safety procedures and equipment-cleaning standards

Keeping tools, supplies, and work areas organized

Identifying maintenance or equipment concerns and reporting them to management

Traveling between Rudy’s San Antonio-area locations based on the assigned cleaning schedule

What the Job Is Like

We want applicants to understand the job before accepting the position.

You should expect to:

Work around grease, smoke residue, food buildup, water, and cleaning chemicals

Get dirty while performing the job

Spend extended periods standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, scrubbing, and moving

Work with water and around wet surfaces

Move cleaning equipment, hoses, tools, and supplies

Work independently for portions of the shift

Complete detailed cleaning projects that may take significant effort

Work in both indoor and outdoor areas

Move from one Rudy’s location to another depending on the day's assignment

The right person will enjoy being able to look at an area or piece of equipment when the job is finished and know, “I made that better.”

Has reliable transportation and can travel between our four San Antonio-area Rudy’s locations

Previous janitorial, restaurant, pressure washing, maintenance, facilities, construction, or commercial cleaning experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train someone with the right attitude and work ethic.

Physical Requirements

The position regularly requires the ability to:

Stand and walk for extended periods

Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, and climb as necessary to clean equipment and facilities

Push and pull cleaning equipment and hoses

Use hand tools and cleaning equipment

Safely perform repetitive scrubbing and cleaning motions

Work in hot, cold, wet, greasy, and sometimes uncomfortable environments

Lift and carry equipment, tools, supplies, and materials associated with the position

Tools & Training

Cleaning tools

Pressure washing equipment

Cleaning products and chemicals

Basic maintenance tools

Personal protective equipment as appropriate

Training on proper cleaning procedures

Training on Rudy’s cleanliness and maintenance expectations
