Position Summary: The Part-Time Facility Maintenance Assistant (30 hours per week) supports the overall safe operation and cleanliness of the Dartmouth branch. This role includes performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, inspections, and assisting with room and equipment setup to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and ready for daily programs and events.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily and routine maintenance tasks throughout the facility
Complete minor repairs and preventative maintenance
Maintain cleanliness and safety of fitness areas, locker rooms, program spaces, and common areas
Conduct routine facility inspections and report maintenance needs
Assist with basic pool area upkeep and report aquatic maintenance concerns
Set up and break down rooms, furniture, and equipment for programs and events
Assist with exterior upkeep, including seasonal tasks such as snow removal and grounds care
Support compliance with YMCA health and safety standards
Qualifications
Prior experience in general facility maintenance preferred
Trade skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) are a plus
Pool maintenance or aquatic facility experience is a plus
Ability to work weekends and occasional evenings as needed
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
The role requires the ability to:
Climb stairs and ladders
Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and reach frequently
Stand and walk for extended periods
Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Perform repetitive manual tasks
Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
