SUMMARY
We are seeking a strong, visionary leader for a Facilities Manager for the Richmond, Virginia area with a proven track record in industrial maintenance and reliability in overseeing site-wide mechanical operations. This role is pivotal in driving strategic initiatives, optimizing asset performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across a large-scale operation. The ideal candidate will bring deep trade experience, technical reliability expertise, and a collaborative mindset to lead a diverse team and manage complex vendor relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coach a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and servant leadership. Drive strategic alignment across departments and ensure high engagement and performance.
- Oversee mechanical maintenance across the site, including reliability programs (RCA, vibration analysis, instrumentation). Champion best practices and long-term asset health.
- Collaborate with the Project Management team to maintain the investment log, manage CAPEX projects ($5–10M/year), and ensure ROI targets are met.
- Build strong partnerships with 15–20 vendors and manage a $11M inventory. Ensure supplier performance and alignment with operational goals.
- Manage budget and compliance including a fixed monthly cost of $1.8M and ensure compliance with corporate standards, safety protocols, and business processes.
- Drive strategic planning and lean manufacturing initiatives (CI mindset).
- Ensure operational excellence and solve problems through coaching and data-driven decision-making.
- Lead annual action planning and budget development.
- Monitor and report asset performance; implement improvement methods.
- Ensure quality and safety standards are met across maintenance teams.
- Engage and develop employees through structured processes and performance management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including reliability, planning, and stores.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 5 years leading a maintenance department in an industrial setting (10 years preferred).
- Experience with reliability programs and CI initiatives.
- Proven leadership of trades workforce.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment in the manufacturing industry required.
- Experience managing CAPEX and maintenance budgets.
- SAP CMMS or similar ERP systems.
- Understanding of reliability tools (RCA, vibration analysis, instrumentation).
