    ********JOB TITLE: Facility Specialist - VMA

    DEPARTMENT: Operations

    REPORTS TO: Facility Supervisor

    FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

    **JOB PURPOSE:
    Under supervision of the Facility Supervisor, the Facility Specialist provides a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and support of Park District indoor facilities and related property grounds.
    **

    • Facility Operation and Maintenance – 50%
    • Community Relations – 20%

    **RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Operate and maintain arena facilities to include grounds, ice maintenance and grooming, structures, equipment, ice resurfacer, compressors, etc.
    • Repair building and appurtenances as required. Perform custodial duties as required and as assigned.
    • Coordinate, supervise and assign work to shift leader and part-time arena staff.
    • Supervise Park District special events, ice shows, high school hockey, tournaments, public skating, dry floor rentals and activities, etc.
    • Works and performs duties without supervision or direction, plan and execute daily activities to achieve goals.
    • Carry out special projects assigned by Facility Supervisor.
    • Gives awareness to Facility Supervisor of matters related to responsibilities.
    • Assist with supervision and training of part time employees.
    • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all user groups. Respond to customer complaints.
    • Ability to communicate ideas, recommendations, instructions and explanations clearly, orally or in writing.
    • Ability to plan and promote maximum usage of arena and facilitate the goal of remaining financially self-sustaining.
    • Operate Ice Resurfacer and edger; perform general maintenance of ice surface and hockey boards.
    • Ability to operate and trouble shoot a variety of technical equipment such including score boards, public address video & audio equipment, power point and other technical equipment.
    • Follow, support and uphold the West Fargo Park District's Standards and Expectations for Employee Excellence.
    • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as are apparent or delegated and carry out special projects assigned by Facility Supervisor.

    **SPHERE OF DAILY DUTIES:

    • Open & close facility on time and according to schedule. Nights and Weekends are required with this position.
    • Provide outstanding customer service by responding to all public feedback with courtesy. Answer questions/calls from patrons with knowledge as to facility operation, events and schedule.
    • Assist the Park District in event preparation and tear down.
    • Ensure schedules are up to date and correspond with the locker room assignments. Set-up for facility dryland events /hockey/daily classes.
    • Create and follow up on daily work list. Oversee and address complete cleanliness of facility and grounds.
    • Identify facility issues and improvements and report any issues or concerns to supervisor.
    • Perform custodial and general facility equipment maintenance duties ongoing as assigned.
    • Ice rink maintenance including install and teardown, cleaning, monitoring, patching, edging and daily ice care Perform routine cleaning/maintenance of boards and glass.
    • Ice Resurfacer Maintenance and Care - operate and maintain the mechanics of the machine, blades, oil, filters, fuel, and report any problems immediately.
    • Maintain the interior and exterior snow, ice, weeds and trash.
    • Attend ice maintenance, ice resurfacer, safety and equipment trainings.
    • Train part time staff and identify and create work lists for part time employees.
    • Monitor patron count in the facility as not to exceed occupancy.
    • Prepare, monitor and cleanup of party rooms/turf for birthdays check in with rentals.
    • Provide safe conditions for employees and patrons. Immediately report issues, emergencies, suspicious activity to the authorities.
    • Facility concessions: Ordering and organizing supplies & inventory, deposits & change, maintaining equipment & hiring and supervising part time employees according to the facility schedule.

    ****MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    **• High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with peer, superiors and other City departments, subordinates, vendors, contractors, external government agencies and organizations.
    • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
    • Possess a basic knowledge of computers and the skills to use this tool in the application of data processing and communication. (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).
    • Valid driver's license.

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
    Work is performed within Park District properties and job site locations that will require sitting, squatting, bending, climbing and reaching. The employee may be required to occasionally perform a full range of motion with lifting and or carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
    Activity may involve being in and around moving equipment. Activity is subject to weather conditions of the seasons, fumes, gasses and exposure to dust. The employee may also be exposed to hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
