    Faherty is looking for an experienced a Controller to lead an Accounting team of four professionals and partner directly with the CEO/Founder to provide expertise and guidance to scale the business. This role will manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounting team by providing financial leadership to the business. Primary responsibilities include financial reporting, monthly and annual reporting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital and cash control.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Management

    • Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

    • Manage outsourced functions –auditors, consultants and vendors that provide accounting and tax and banking services to Faherty•

    • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including the design and implementation of an organizational structure that adequately achieves the teams goals and objectives

    • Oversee all aspects of contract billings/invoicing for local, state, federal and private/corporate contracts

    • Lead, guide and develop a best in class team Transactions

    • Develop, maintain, and oversee financial accounting systems such as cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash, the general ledger, and bank transactions

    • Manage bank relationships and ensure that all debt and tax payments are made on time

    • Ensure that bank and cash reconciliations are performed on a monthly and annual basis

    • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

    • Maintain and update financial controls over accounting transactions

    • Research technical accounting issues for compliance

    • Oversee and support month-end and year-end close process

    • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

    • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

     

    Reporting

    • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements

    • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of the organization’s operations

    • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

    • Preparation of report variances and significant issues to leadership as necessary

    • Provide financial analyses, as needed, in particular for capital investments, budget and pricing decisions and contract negotiations

     

    Compliance

    • Coordinate the preparation and submission of information to external auditors for annual financial and property audits, and periodic program and related audits

    • Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance required to manage ongoing business operations

    • Monitor all financial and debt covenants in bank credit facilities

    • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degrees preferred, and licensed CPA a strong plus

    • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience within finance and accounting and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in fashion/retail or consumer products

    • Previous focus on accounting, audit, inventory and internal controls is required
