    The Ambassador Volunteer Program (AVP) Specialist works under with the Director of Community Engagement and Strategic Partnerships on all projects related to the Ambassador Volunteer Program. The Specialist will provide support and coordination to Ambassador (volunteers), The Learning Centers and Fairplex.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Position roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Provide support and coordination to volunteers, The Learning Centers and Fairplex • Maintain updated and effective record keeping and data management systems of VolunteerHub database • Collaborate with internal Fairplex departments to further develop the volunteer program • Coordinates volunteer appreciation events • Ensure Volunteer Program is staffed, conduct orientation and trainings • Oversees volunteer leads during Fair season and during year-round volunteer activities • Act as Liaison between the programs and the public • Collects and compiles program evaluation surveys • Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers by acting as the point of contact for communication, both phone and email • Engage and educate the community about the Ambassador Volunteer Program to grow volunteer support • Act as a liaison to the community for TLC and Fairplex to share community giving efforts and develop additional ways of supporting the community needs • Ensure volunteers are staffed and supported for their various areas of operations; particularly during the LA County Fair • Demonstrates a commitment to Fairplex and The Learning Centers mission in all work products • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    • Requires a four-year college degree in business administration, public relations, human resources, education, social sciences or related field. • Supervisory experience preferred and must be comfortable managing and leading large groups. • Must be a self-starter and have excellent written and oral communications skills. • Requires ability to coordinate several activities and projects simultaneously and be able to work effectively under pressure and deadlines. • Must have experience working with various computer applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB

    1. Must be able to make presentations and speak in public
    2. Must be able to type and use various computer software applications
    3. Must be able to communicate effectively, over the telephone, via e-mail, and through mail correspondence.
    4. Must be able to drive and be insurable
    5. Must be able to move around the grounds
    6. Must be capable of analysis, report writing, group facilitating and project follow through skills.
    7. Must be able to work weekends and evenings during the LA County Fair.
    8. Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 pounds.
    9. Must be able to climb stairs.
