The IT Technician works on installation, configuration, design, and development of wired/wireless networks, computers and other systems. Will be supporting a large area campus network consisting of over 500 acres. Works closely with all systems, applications and other personnel to ensure a clean and seamless integration with our systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists with the sourcing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, operation and support for network, internet, intranet, DMZ, web and other network systems and their related layers • Assists with setup, configuration and deployment of network equipment, computers, timekeeping, camera systems and other related software and hardware • Assists users in the proper, efficient use and configuration of the network, hardware and its related applications • Creates and manages enterprise wide and cross-platform integration between network and clients‘ needs • Assists in maintaining all network, hardware, software and server applications • Coordinates with vendors in upgrades, technical support and system troubleshooting • Maintains and configures a variety of security systems • Administers and maintains VPN access • Maintain security devices and related equipment • Assists in the support acquisition, installation, configuration, maintenance and management of technologies, including Microsoft applications and OS as well as a wide array of unique equipment • Manages the daily operations of local, wireless, and wide area networks • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
• Must have solid hardware and software experiences and working knowledge of networking, Cisco networking configuration, PC based solutions, hardware and software applications • Must have analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast paced environment • Must have excellent communication skills and telephone etiquette • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with limited supervision • Proficiency in Microsoft products, Cisco equipment, TCP/IP and networking protocols and typing a major plus • Requires organizational skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays • Must have reliable transportation • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. • Must be able to work in various weather conditions, such as heat and cold • Must be able to move around grounds • Must be able to climb stairs
