    Job Description

    Fairwind Corp is happy to announce a new Software Engineer II position in Huntsville, AL. We are looking for a candidate that wants to work for a fast growing small company that supports programs in the Department of Defense.

    Must be a US Citizen.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Support the Regan Test Site (RTS) remote operations as Software Engineer Senior in Huntsville, Alabama.

    · Work in a team environment to maintain code, test, document, troubleshoot, and support 24/7 Space Operations.

    · Coordinate with software engineers, external partners, testers, configuration management, and system engineering to ensure successful integration with other software components.

    · Develop software enhancements, incorporate software modifications and install updated Software Version Releases.

    · Assist with the development of complex systems modeling, simulations, and analysis to provide the most appropriate technical solutions.

    · Work to identify and resolve Risk Management Framework (RMF) findings

    · Actively participate in mission and space operations as needed.

    · Provide on-call 24/7 support for Space Operations.

    REQUIRED SKILLS · Ability to develop object-oriented software using C++, Java, and SQL.

    · Familiarity with Linux Operating System.

    · Familiarity with configuration management systems (svn or git).

    · Familiarity with Integrated Development Environments like Eclipse.

    · Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    · Ability to work in collaborative, multi-discipline environment to produce deliverable products.

    · Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.

    · Strong organization and time management skills to balance, plan, prioritize and execute projects.

    · Ability to work within a dynamic fast paced environment with time constraints.

    · Ability to work independently and to work effectively as a part of a team.

    · Fundamental knowledge of databases (e.g. My SQL, Oracle).

    · Familiarity with DIACAP or Risk Management Framework (RMF).

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.

    · Two (2) or more years of experience as Software Engineer in a software development environment; a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Software Engineering may be considered in lieu of two (2) years of experience.

    · DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification (e.g. Security+) obtained within 6 months of hire.

    · DoD Approved 8570 Computing Environment (CE) certification obtained within one year of hire.

    · Significant experience with software development processes desired.

    · Experience applying object-oriented programming knowledge to complex software architectures on the Linux platform desired.

    · Experience providing inputs to complex project proposals within defined time constraints involving multi-discipline teams desired.

     

    ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

    · The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.

    · Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization.

    · Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
