Reports to: SIU Supervisor

Job Responsibilities:

Receive Special Investigative Unit “SIU” referrals from the SIU Supervisor and will review all aspects of the claim file, communicate with referring source(s), verifies the need for an investigation, and documents all appropriate information

Initiates investigation by gathering facts and evidence on appropriate subjects, conducts database searches, interviews, and/or takes recorded statements when or as needed

Conduct Examinations Under Oath when required

Completes inside and outside investigative tasks

Ensures that assigned cases are investigated and reported back to appropriate claims personnel

Evaluates information and reviews/determines applicable laws, regulations, and state fraud reporting requirements

Complete investigative summary reports and submits to SIU Supervisor for review and approval prior to the conclusion of the assigned investigation

Performs miscellaneous task or assignments in a support role to claims and SIU Supervisor

Testifies in civil and criminal courts when required

Qualifications:

3 to 5 years of claims handling or investigative experience with an auto insurance carrier, preferably non-standard and multi-state exposure

Ability to work independently with self-initiative

Strong analytical and technical abilities to review, evaluate information such as claims data, patterns, and other supporting information related to referred property and medical claims

Detail-oriented

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Understanding of the elements of intent, misrepresentation, intentional acts,and immunity statutes
