  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The Counselor is responsible for providing skilled counseling and other social services to individuals, families, and groups who require assistance in resolving personality, emotional, and/or environmental problems which interfere with their daily personal/social functioning. Additionally, this position may require facilitating groups and seminars as well as providing assessments and appropriate clinical interventions.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Provide high level service that will enable clients to cope more effectively with everyday problems and improve social functioning
    • Devise appropriate treatment plans for improving/solving the problems of individuals, families, or groups
    • Conduct individual, conjoint, family and group counseling and community-based counseling with the use of total family function as basic consideration in assessment of treatment modality
    • Continue personal development of skills by participating/joining professional organizations and staff development activities
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation according to established Agency guidelines
    • Contribute to the accomplishment of Unit and Agency objectives through communication and consultation with Agency staff, and through attendance and participation in Unit meetings and regular Supervisory sessions
    • Supervise and conduct group therapy sessions at cooperative home settings throughout the week.
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • 2-3 years of experience in the Human Services Profession or Approved Counseling Position.   
    • Masters Degree in social work, marriage and family counseling, or professional counseling.
    • LAPC, LPC, LMSW, LMFT or LCSW licensure by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and family Therapists required.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Word and other Software Packages
