Our family is looking for an energetic and responsible tutor/in-home teacher/nanny. We have two kids, ages 13 (son) and 9 (daughter). Our daughter is scheduled to be in school 5-days a week, but we know that could change if COVID is in her classroom. Our son will go to school two days a week (either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday.) The other three days he will be at home with virtual learning provided by his school. Both parents work from home, but are on conference calls much of the work day. We each have a closed office space, and will have dedicated workspace for the kids' school work and activities. We would like someone with a background in education - retired teacher, teacher taking a year off from the traditional classroom, student studying education. We need someone who can: - lead one (or both) kids on their learning journey - follow the school curriculum, being a home learning partner - navigate each day without interrupting the parents - create hands-on learning activities that align with school work - manage two separate schedules, depending on what is required with school - provide a fairly structured schedule, with flexibility depending on school requirements - be firm and make decisions - navigate sibling dynamics - help the kids be accountable A large part of this position will be as a home learning partner, but we are looking for someone who is also willing to participate in non-school activities. - Assisting the kids in cooking healthy lunches and completing household chores - Keeping the kids active and occupied (when not managing school work) Our daughter is in Spanish Immersion so conversational Spanish is a plus (but not a requirement.) Ideally, we would like someone three days a week from 9:00am - 4:00pm (either Monday/Wednesday/Thursday or Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday - we should know the exact schedule in early August). We are flexible though, as we understand a tutor/teacher may have other commitments throughout the day. Our preference is to have someone who is able to start prior to the school year, allowing time to build rapport and trust with the kids. Transportation to and from our house is a requirement, but a car is available during the day, if needed.
