Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency is assisting a family in the Wesley Heights neighborhood near Uptown Charlotte in finding a Family Assistant for their family, which includes three children, ages 14, 10, and 5 years old. The Family Assistant would typically be needed Monday - Friday 2:30 pm - 8:30 pm, 30 hours a week. Flexibility is key, as the Family Assistant may need to work more hours or leave early some days. Weekly schedule depends on the parents' work and the children’s activity schedules. The schedule will be provided in advance, with the understanding that last-minute changes may occur. Occasional overnight care will be requested when both parents have to travel at the same time.

The best Family Assistant would be trustworthy, reliable, flexible, discreet, and highly organized. It is important for the Family Assistant to be able to anticipate and meet the needs of a busy household and the schedules of multiple children with ease. A clean driving record, a safe car that can accommodate all three children, and familiarity with navigating Charlotte and Mecklenburg County are essential to this role, as the children participate in sports that take place throughout the area.

Each day, the Family Assistant would come in and meal prep the family’s dinner and attend to any necessary household management tasks. Then, picking up the youngest children from the bus stop or picking them up from school after activities. The oldest child will either get a ride home from her after-school activities, or need to be picked up and taken to soccer. When the children are home from school, the primary responsibilities include caring for them, transporting them to sports and other activities, ensuring they are having fun and engaged, preparing dinner for the family, making sure they are doing their laundry and other house chores, and ensuring they are well-prepared for the next day. One of their children has a shellfish allergy and has an Epi-Pen. However, they have never had to use it. The family Assistant should be familiar with how to use an Epi-Pen and what to do in case of a reaction.

This family is busy and fun, ultimately looking for someone who can bond with the children, transport the children to activities, and help out with household tasks to make their family’s downtime more quality time (rather than taking care of household tasks). Ideally, the Family Assistant will be with the family on a long-term basis, growing with them over time.

    Nanny Responsibilities Include:

    • Meeting the daily scheduling needs of the children

    • Picking them up from school

    • Transporting them to activities around Mecklenburg County

    • Ensuring they are prepared and ready for the next day

    • Engaging with the children on an age-appropriate level

    • Being creative in finding fun activities at home and in the community for the children to participate in.

Household Duties Include (Children are first priority):

    • Proactively anticipating the needs of the household

    • Guiding the children and assisting them in doing their laundry. Teach them (especially the 5-year-old who is still learning) how to put away their laundry.

    • Planning and cooking family meals as needed (one child has a shellfish allergy)

    • Unloading/loading the dishwasher

    • Home organizing projects as needed

    • Grocery shopping as needed

    • Restocking household items

    • Running Errands

    • Help with other home management tasks

Pets: They have one dog, a 5-year-old mutt. There are no primary responsibilities associated with the dog, unless the parents are traveling (then the dog would need to be fed and given water, and taken on a walk as needed). If the Family Assistant has downtime and would like to walk the dog, that would be appreciated, but certainly not expected.
