    SCRATCH BAKERY CAFE in Laguna Hills is seeking a Cake Decorator/Dessert Maker for a Full Time position.

    We are seeking people who have a great attitude, are willing to grow with the company, and work well with others. Must have verifiable experience and/or education and be able to decorate cakes, cupcakes and cookies based on customer orders, using fruit, chocolate and whipped cream. We do not use fondant or buttercream.

    BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Ensuring our cake and dessert products adhere to our decorating standards. Keeping showcases full with fresh product.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assembles, frosts and decorates cakes and cupcakes.

    Cuts, bakes and decorates a variety of cookies.

    Creates fruit tarts.

    Creates cream puffs and eclairs including preparation of pate a choux dough.

    Prepares custards and mousses.

    Prepares other dessert items as needed.

    Maintains a full, fresh cake and dessert case.

    Monitors inventory and acts promptly to maintain require product pars.

    Ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation of decorating work aides and work area. Ensures a safe work environment.

    Responsible for assisting other bakery staff on large orders on occasion.

    Washing sheet pans and other equipment and tools used in bakery processes.

    Responsible for performing all duties with honesty and integrity.

    Other necessary and required duties.

    SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to frequently lift buckets weighing up to approximately 25 lbs. Ability to frequently reach and maneuver product filled trays within the range of floor level to overhead. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist and turn frequently. Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and good balance are necessary. Ability to work and move at a production rate of speed.

    Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers. Must possess good communication skills and be able to read and follow written instructions.

    Requires creative ability and the ability to identify colors.

    Possession of valid California Food Handlers or ServSafe card.

    MUST love working with the public and maintain professionalism during both peak and slower periods.

    Bending 8 hours - Lifting up to 25 pounds max. consistently - Standing up to 8 or more hours.

    Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to mixers, and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Frequent exposure for brief periods of time to -20° Fahrenheit while handling products in the freezer. Working conditions consists of a Bakery Department production area in a temperature controlled store environment. Hands are frequently exposed to water and cleaning agents.

    WORKING SCHEDULE & PAY RANGE: Open 7 days a week. Start times between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Weekends are required. Holiday periods may require overtime.
