    POSITION: Family Engagement Coordinator

    STATUS: Part-Time (25 hours/week)

    CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

    REPORTS TO: Family Advocacy Center Program Director

    PAY RATE: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Family Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of ongoing, interactive events that bring youth and adults together in positive, inclusive, and family-friendly environments. Under the supervision of the Family Advocacy Center Program Director, this role is centered on strengthening family bonds and community connections through engaging, regularly rotating activities that foster learning, creativity, and relationship-building across generations.

    The Family Engagement Coordinator will focus on designing meaningful group experiences—such as family game nights, art and music workshops, wellness sessions, parent-youth challenges, and culturally relevant celebrations—that promote unity, communication, and resilience among participating families. All programming will align with the goals of the Family Advocacy Center and the requirements of DCFS.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Develop and lead recurring, interactive family engagement events that support positive youth development and multi-generational bonding.

    ● Coordinate a calendar of rotating activities that vary in theme and format (e.g., art, fitness, cooking, storytelling, STEM, cultural events).

    ● Ensure all activities are welcoming, age-inclusive, and culturally relevant to the populations served.

    ● Collaborate with community partners, facilitators, and local talent to enhance event quality and engagement.

    ● Promote events through outreach strategies that target families, youth, and caregivers in the service area. ● Manage logistics for all events including setup, materials, registration, and feedback collection.

    ● Monitor participation and gather qualitative and quantitative data for evaluation and DCFS reporting.

    ● Adapt programming based on community needs, feedback, and seasonal relevance.

    ● Maintain a safe, respectful, and family-centered environment during all engagements. ● Support overall Family Advocacy Center goals related to child abuse prevention, family connection, and community strengthening.

    ● Participate actively in opportunities for continuous professional development.

    ● Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    ● Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Community Engagement, Human Services, Youth Development, or a related field, or equivalent combination of educaiton and experience.

    ● Fluent in reading, writing and speaking in Spanish and English.

    ● Minimum 2 years of experience in event planning, family programming, or youth/family services.

    ● Strong skills in planning creative, interactive events that appeal to both youth and adults.

    ● High energy, flexible, and organized with strong follow-through.

    ● Must be able to pass a criminal background check

    ● Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    Must be able to work evenings and weekends based on event schedules.
