Family Law Attorney

Lawrenceville, GA

Family law is not a practice area. It is a calling. When a parent is fighting to keep their children, when a spouse is trying to reclaim their life, when a family is falling apart and needs someone to fight intelligently and relentlessly on their behalf — that is when we show up. We are looking for an attorney who understands that. Not someone who sees clients as files. Someone who sees them as people who deserve first-class advocacy at the worst moment of their lives. Our law firm is growing, and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent clients in all areas of family law. We offer a wonderful and supportive team environment, excellent pay, and benefits. Responsibilities: • Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed • Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients • Our lawyers focus on the work that a law degree is required for, not tasks that can be performed by paralegals and legal assistants. You must have the ability to delegate and lead to be an effective attorney with our team. You must know and lead your cases. The support staff will handle telephone, calendaring, and scheduling. • Determine case strategy and resources needed, such as a GAL, mediator, expert, home appraisal, etc. • Negotiate settlements through settlement conferences and or mediation. • Develop and implement a litigation strategy. • Develop cross-examination, direct examination, and trial strategy. • Dictate strategy, needs, and methods to paralegals and legal assistants. Review and approve all drafts. • Lead client communication and client happiness efforts. • Facilitate resolutions that save the client money and consider the client's budget. • Litigate when necessary, ensuring that clients see you fighting for them and ensuring that they get whatever they are entitled to receive. • Engage with clients frequently and help clients cope amid stressful family situations. • Obtain at least one five-star client every month. • Operate efficiently and meet billable hour requirements. • Manage the accounts receivable on cases that you own, ensuring that clients have the proper funds before the work is performed. Qualifications: • 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position • Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association) • Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants • Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred • A minimum of 2 years of family law experience is required. • Sensitive people are NOT a fit for our company or our team. This is family law. It requires tough, get-it-done professionals who don't get their feathers ruffled easily. You must be able to handle difficult judges, challenging clients, and combative opposing attorneys. • Must be able to take criticism and feedback from clients, opposing parties, and judges. • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement is required. • A sense of humor and a positive attitude are needed for this industry and our firm. • The desire to win and be the best is essential for trial lawyers in our firm. • Commitment to excellence is required. Compensation: $90,000 - $200,000 yearly
