Our growing law firm is looking to hire a family attorney who is fiercely passionate about representing clients facing one of the most challenging times in their lives. Candidates should be adept at preparing necessary legal documents in connection with prenuptial agreements, initiating and finalizing divorces, alimony, child support/child custody, and real estate. Responsibilities: • Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action • Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as needed • Keep client files properly organized and up to date • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases • Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients • Conduct client meetings by phone and video conference • Multitask and work with multiple deadlines • Negotiate and draft settlement agreements Qualifications: • Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred • Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association) • Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required • Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations • Experience with all types of family law matters, but primarily divorces, including contested and uncontested divorces, custody, visitation, child support matters, division of property, spousal support, etc • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills • 5 or more years of experience handling Virginia divorce cases • Proficient with technology and remote work Compensation: $75 - $100 hourly
