We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join our growing team serving Lake County and neighboring communities. This position focuses primarily on divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, parenting time, child support, maintenance, and orders of protection. We are not looking for someone who wants to practice alone. The attorneys who succeed here typically: Enjoy helping families through difficult transitions Value teamwork over ego Appreciate coaching and professional development Want structure without micromanagement Take ownership of results Communicate proactively with clients and team members • This Position May Not Be For You If: Want a long-term professional home You want complete autonomy with minimal collaboration You dislike client interaction You resist accountability or established systems You prefer practicing entirely independently You are looking for a short-term stop rather than a long-term career opportunity Responsibilities: Manage a family law caseload from initial consultation through resolution Conduct client consultations and develop legal strategies tailored to client goals Draft pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, parenting plans, financial affidavits, and other legal documents Appear regularly in Lake County Court Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients in contested matters Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case status and strategy Collaborate with legal assistants, support staff, and firm leadership to ensure matters progress efficiently Maintain accurate time records and file documentation Follow established firm procedures and case-management systems Participate in weekly case review and strategy meetings Deliver an exceptional client experience from intake through case resolution Qualifications: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Active Illinois law license in good standing Preferred: 3+ years of experience handling family law matters Experience independently managing hearings, motion practice, client communications, and case strategy Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities Commitment to professionalism, ethics, and client service Experience practicing in Lake County or McHenry County is a plus but not required Our Ideal Candidate: Enjoys helping families through difficult transitions Takes ownership of cases and outcomes Values teamwork and collaboration Appreciates structure, accountability, and efficient systems Is comfortable working closely with legal assistants and support staff Wants to build a long-term career with a growing firm Is organized, responsive, and client-focused This Position May Not Be a Fit If: You require constant supervision to manage deadlines or case progress You dislike client communication You resist systems, procedures, or accountability You prefer a role focused primarily on legal research with limited client contact You struggle with organization or time management You are looking for complete autonomy without collaboration Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000 yearly
