Our law group is growing, and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent clients in all areas of family law. You’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations, such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues, such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. If you are passionate about helping people navigate some of the most difficult challenges they may face in their lives, start your application today Responsibilities: • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process • Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date • Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed • Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings • Independently manage complex family law matters, including: • High-asset divorce • Custody and visitation disputes • Alimony and child support • Equitable distribution • Serve as lead attorney on cases from intake through resolution • Develop legal strategy and provide high-level counsel to clients • Mentor and train associate attorneys on legal strategy, courtroom preparation, and client management • Review pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements prepared by associates • Appear in court as needed and provide guidance on litigation strategy • Collaborate with firm leadership to improve processes and practice standards Qualifications: • Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required • Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required • Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association) • Prior work or studies in criminal justice preferred • Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school • Active license to practice law in North Carolina • 5-8+ years of dedicated family law experience required • Demonstrated ability to handle complex and emotionally charged cases with professionalism • Applicants must have served as lead counsel on complex family law matters • Proven leadership, mentorship, and training capabilities • Strong courtroom presence, legal writing, and negotiation skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Serve as lead strategist on high-asset divorce cases • Independently manage matters from intake through trial • Train and mentor associate attorneys • Review and approve associates’ work product • This role is not suitable for entry-level attorneys Compensation: $150,000+ Depending on Experience
