Job Description
Family law office seeks a part-time associate attorney with a minimum of two years’ experience in family law.
The ideal candidate possesses the following traits:
· Active license to practice law in the State of California;
· Experience making court appearances, including at least one trial/evidentiary hearing;
· A proactive, efficient approach to case management and disinclination to “churn” cases;
· A sense of humor and excellent interpersonal skills;
· Experience working with clients in crisis, including those who have experienced trauma;
· A professional (and usually collegial) demeanor when working with opposing counsel;
· Recognition that good support staff must be treated in a friendly and professional manner at all times;
· Dependability and punctuality without exception for court appearances and appointments;
· Excellence in oral and written communication, and legal research;
· A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills;
· Ability to work independently, and as part of a dynamic team; and
· A good reputation with judges and attorneys, and established good relations with court staff.
The Law Offices of Nadine L. Burg is committed to work-life balance, and evening and weekend work is generally avoided. Our office is located in downtown Oakland, and we primarily serve Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Note, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are staggering in-office time, so all applicants must have the ability to work from home.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation is based upon experience. We offer sick time, some paid holidays, and other benefits to support your career development. No health insurance is available at this time. Our office has a friendly team environment and great office perks.
