Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Responsibilities: • Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases • Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current • Meet with clients to determine their goals and develop a case strategy • Ensure timely communication with clients • Negotiate with opposing counsel and pro se opposing parties • Draft pleadings, including motions for temporary orders, motions to vacate the marital home, separation agreements, pre-trial memos, and position statements for use in GAL investigations and conciliation • Prepare and advocate for clients at all court hearings and case events • Collaborate with all members of the legal team, including the Founding Attorney, Case Manager, and other attorneys Qualifications: • Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants • Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required • Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required • Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred • MA Bar License (required) • RI Bar License (preferred) • Mediation certified (preferred) • At least 1-3 years litigating all aspects of family law cases Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 + annual base salary
