To apply, please submit: • A cover letter outlining your experience, interest, and qualifications for the Family Law Attorney role • Your resume • Contact information for three professional references Responsibilities: • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed • Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients • Develop case strategies, provide leadership, and guide paralegals and legal assistants • Handle full caseloads independently, from case inception to resolution • Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare memos on complex case issues • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts as needed • Appear in court for various family law proceedings, representing clients in high-stakes situations • Prepare clients for trials, advocate on their behalf, and work with experts when necessary • Oversee division of marital assets and negotiate settlements in divorce cases • Maintain organized client files, ensuring documentation accuracy and timeliness • Cultivate relationships with clients, providing clear communication and emotional support through challenging situations Qualifications: • Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants • Prior work or studies in criminal justice preferred • Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association) • At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary Who We’re Looking For:Experience: Minimum of 6 years in Family Law litigation and courtroom advocacy (required) • Licenses: Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia • Skill Set: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic problem-solving, and attention to detail • Mindset: A compassionate and resilient advocate with experience navigating high-stress, emotional cases with a client-focused approach • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in analyzing and summarizing legal documents with strong attention to detail • Team-Focused: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment Preferred Qualifications: • Estate Planning experience • Proven success in advocating for both plaintiffs and defendants • Strong negotiation skills, especially under stressful conditions Compensation: $130,000 - $145,000 yearly
