About your Role:
The practice of a certified substance abuse counselor consists of the Twelve Core Functions, including screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, report and record keeping, consultation with other professionals regarding client treatment and services, and referral to treat addictive disorder or disease and to help prevent relapse.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Work as group/individual counselor in IOP with clients/families.
Work with LCAS who is on site 50% of time program is in operation:
Review Comprehensive Assessment reports, with supervisory consultation, in preparation for participation in team treatment planning process to develop individualized person-centered treatment plans with measurable goals and appropriate interventions, with inclusion of professional and natural support systems in the planning and implementation process. Document on-going concerns, progress, and new issues and bring to team, along with recommended interventions, for PCP revision as needed.
For assigned cases, share with the team leader any concerns about medication compliance, side effects and helpfulness, and communication of information to treating psychiatrists as indicated.
For assigned cases, maintain regular contact with clients’ other resources, including communicating treatment recommendations, coordinating treatment and support services, and providing weekly progress reports either verbally or in writing for all active clients.
In consultation with the team leader and/or supervisor, provide skills building training and other counseling as part of the participate in individual and group counseling sessions according to state service definition requirements and client’s person-centered plan, utilizing best practice treatment modalities, including strength-based motivational approaches to dealing with client resistance.
Does the Following Apply to You?
Master’s Degree in a human service-related field.
Must have at least 2 years’ experience in providing substance abuse counseling.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
