    Job Description:

    Ability to complete intake assessment for Adult Protective Services report; Investigate Adult Protective Services referrals within policy requirements; Assess client's risk factors, physical and psychological capacity with the Uniform Assessment Instrument (UAI} to determine client's service and related financial needs; develop an appropriate service plan, referral, and community resources; gather, interpret and apply interview and related investigative information to accurately assess and direct client to services and resources. Effectively manage a specialized and demanding investigative and service delivery function. Ensure that client needs are adequately assessed and that services are delivered to meet those needs, including referral and follow-up for services in the community as well as all levels of services and financial assistance. Casework is completed within policy timeframes. Able to work within the philosophy of least restrictive alternative/ adult autonomy for capable adult clients. Has the ability to determine when involuntary court-based action may be necessary to resolve risk for an incapacitated adult.

    Duties:

    • Accept referrals for investigations of allegations of abuse, neglect, and /or exploitation of adults that meet the criteria for a valid report.
    • Will receive more complex cases, with more than one type of alleged abuse, neglect, or exploitation
    • Will receive cases with a higher level of skill/experience than FSSI
    • Will receive cases that may have multiple alleged perpetrators
    • Will receive both priority and emergency cases
    • Conduct investigations in community, licensed residential settings, licensed group homes, licensed day programs, and unlicensed residential settings.
    • Conduct face-to-face interviews with alleged victims, alleged perpetrators, and other collateral contacts.
    • Collect and evaluate relevant information to make decisions related to investigation, services, and outcomes.
    • Complete documentation and casework within required timeframes based on local and/or state guidelines.
    • Assess vulnerable adults' cognition, physical, mental, and functional abilities.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with appropriate licensing agencies, law enforcement agencies, legal entities, contractors/providers, Physicians, hospitals, and numerous community agencies, in order to provide services to vulnerable adults.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a human services field (social work, counseling, gerontology, guidance and counseling, family and child development, psychology or sociology) and three (3) years of experience in a human services field; or possess a Bachelor's degree in any field accompanied by a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in a human services area.

    Special Requirements

    For Adult Protective Services: Experience requirements must include two (2) years in Adult Protective Services or working directly with the older and disabled adult population
