Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail, telephone, or personal visit to solicit payment. Duties include receiving payment and posting the amount to the customer's account; preparing statements to the credit department if the customer fails to respond; repossessions, small claims, bankruptcy filings, or other actions as required and keeping records of collection and status of accounts. Provide customer service and support for other positions in the department. Responsibilities: • Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules, based on customers' financial situations. Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment. • Maintain company standard of delinquency ratios. • Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail, telephone, or personal visits to solicit payment. • Answer customer’s questions regarding problems with their accounts. • Record information about the financial status of customers and the status of collection efforts. • Perform various administrative functions for assigned accounts, such as recording address changes and purging records when required. Tracing delinquent customers to new addresses by inquiring at post offices, telephone companies, credit bureaus, or through the questioning of neighbors. • Sort and file correspondence, and perform miscellaneous clerical duties such as answering correspondence and writing reports. • Receive payments and post amounts paid to customers’ accounts. • Contact insurance companies to check on the status of claims payments and write appeal letters for denial of claims. • Notify credit departments, order merchandise repossession or service disconnection, and turn over account records to attorneys when customers fail to respond to collection attempts. • Negotiate credit extensions when necessary. • Maintain and complete documentation of loan files. • Monitor insurance on loan collateral. • Work with insurance and title companies and also with government entities and other lending dealers. • Cross-train on other duties and functions of other Finance Department positions as assigned. • Miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Qualifications: • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred. • Experience: One year related experience. Knowledge of Insurance, Real Estate, Title Research, and Internet Usage preferred. • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite. • **Certifications & Licenses: **Standard Driver's License.
